Frequently asked questions
Can we keep Odoo on our own server instead of moving it to your cloud?
Yes. Link your server, whether it is at AWS, Hetzner, DigitalOcean, Linode or in your own rack, with one command, and Cloud Buddy can install Odoo 17, 18, 19 or 20 on it. From then on it checks the server and every Odoo on it every five minutes, backs up each database daily, and runs a daily read-only security audit graded A to F. Nothing has to move.
How are backups handled, and are they actually tested?
Production is backed up every day and kept for about three months, on a rotation of 7 daily, 4 weekly and 3 monthly copies. Every week the newest backup is restored as a test, so you know it works before you ever need it. When offsite storage is set up, backups are encrypted on the server before they are copied to another location.
Can we move an existing database from Odoo.sh or Odoo Online?
Yes. Bring a backup from Odoo.sh, Odoo Online or any other host: upload it, paste a download link, or fetch it directly from a running Odoo's database manager. Community and Enterprise editions are both supported, from Odoo 14 onwards; Enterprise also needs your own Odoo Enterprise subscription.
